Sometime in the early days of the pandemic I noticed that the domain name of my website was about to expire. I started digging around for the password. But the password was nowhere to be found. The expiration date came and went. I wasn’t worried. I just assumed I’d get through eventually, that I’d pony up the $24.95 (or whatever) and the site would zoom back into action. In retrospect, I now see this lack of urgency as intentional. In those days I was pretty sure I no longer wanted to have a website (or, for that matter, any other public-facing infrastructure). So the expiration date and the lost password were, as far as my subconscious was concerned, convenient. Still, I really did try (and fail) to get the site back up. What I did not anticipate was that an alert and resourceful poacher somewhere in the Benelux time-zone would scarf it up. The poor, unaccompanied domain name lasted about two days in the wild.
So many questions. First of all, really? And then, how did he know? Is there an app for that? Is he a disgruntled fan? Could it be the same guy that stole my lyric book off the stage in Denmark? Is there money to be made in sniping the web domains of chronically marginal singer-songwriters? Was Spotify somehow behind this?
No matter. I now have a shiny new website: www.richardshindellmusic.com. Not much there yet, but it does have a few photos and some info on upcoming tour dates, also listed below. I hope to see you out there.

nice site. simple, elegant, and streamlined. the hosting companies will often snatch up the expired domain, and charge you up the wazoo to get it back, so looks like what you have now will work. much love, will
Had the pleasure of attending the Central Ohio Folk Festival last weekend. You were wonderful, thank you. I found your workshops warm and accepting on such a rainy occasion. The "tiny desk" concerts you did for us to illustrate a point or answer a question were priceless. Chris Murphy, Yellow Springs, Ohio
