Sunday is the day I calm the bees and send you what I have. There are still a few drones buzzing around this one. In other words, it might not be done. But it’s close. Or maybe it is done, if only I take my hand out of the hive….
There isn’t much I want to say about the poem, except that it began during a four-day, COVID-related hospital stay in Buenos Aires. Nothing serious. All is well. In fact I was able to treat it as a kind of poetry field trip, an occasion to learn the names of things, both within and without.
Con permiso (or simply permiso) is an expression of courtesy in Spanish. It’s what one says when crossing the threshold into a stranger’s home. The usual response is adelante (go ahead, please come in).

I have had my own hospital stays recently, more serious than yours, and I find myself wrestling with how I will live my own whole life.
I only wish I spoke Spanish
