[Lyrics below].
It’s been two months since I started this project. From my point of view, it marks a before and after in my creative life: keeping to this schedule, loosening up about what I send out into the ether, learning to tolerate what is still rough, unfinished, in process. On the other side of this is you. It’s been wonderful to begin building a little community here. I love reading and responding to your comments. The numbers of subscribers has been going up - slowly but steadily.
Thus far I’ve not been accepting payment for any of this, even though many of you have pledged to contribute once I switch on the monetization. That will happen today. All of those kind, generous pledges will be activated.
I’ve been thinking about how to approach the money thing. One way would be to create tiers: the higher the tier, the greater the access to content. But I think I’d rather just make this completely voluntary. In other words, everything I post here will be available to anyone who subscribes, even at the “free” level. But the three paid tiers will still be available. It’s up to you. Let’s call it the public radio model.
Having said that, this is going to be an important element in how I hope to make a living from now on. And as I’ve said before, it might also become my primary creative outlet. Yes, there will be some live shows now and then - but far fewer than in the Before Times.
So if this project is something you value (whether you’re here for poems, prose, photos, or songs), I hope you’ll consider becoming a paid subscriber.
Tactical
our perimeter reaches with the light
yellow LEDs vying with the night
out beyond the lawn chairs
almost to the high grass
our perimeter, always theirs to test
probes and forays, advancing to assess
the cats will sense them coming
and offer no resistance
but we are not afraid, the universe is ours
all our systems, flood lights on the yard
but this much?
this much must be tactical
they leave messages all around our home
such precision, a language of their own
I’m out here every morning
on my hands and knees
but we are not afraid, the universe is ours
all our systems, hose it to the yard
but this much?
this much must be tactical
I've got a brand new wire brush
I love this one; a bit of a puzzle with clues for us, and a wire brush? I think of what encroaches your perimeter.... the foxes, or fireflies or those birds with their droppings, A wire brush? the cats won’t take a stand for sure. Must research what encroaches on the Pampa. 😃
O los murciélagos?
